When I think of my favorite museums, the Met, Whitney Museum, and the Louvre all come to mind. The key features that all these museums have in common are large windows or curtain walls that allow natural light to fill the interior spaces. Another key feature of exhibition spaces is their simplicity. The walls are plain and the rooms are spacious- tall ceilings and without adornment so that the artwork is the focus and there is a timelessness to the exhibition space. Finally, these museums all have an open feel and clear pathways for people to move around. This is important for viewing the exhibitions.
