When I reviewed the architectural model of the building, I could see a nice flow of each floor, so I wanted to make sure I maintained that openness and kept the long sight-lines. For my structural framing design, I chose to use steel because it allowed for a larger span between columns, which would achieve more open spaces throughout the building. I wanted to make sure the cafe area remained clear of large columns. I accomplished this through the use of a select few transfer beams where I wanted to eliminate column use.

I used steel W10x33 columns and W12x26 beams throughout the building.

Upon review of my building, I noticed a column that partially obstructs this door. This would need to be fixed in the future (potentially placed slightly to the left of the door). Other than that, all areas were clear of columns where they would obstruct movement.
